Drapery, Sheers, Valances

Custom Drapes by Outlooks DesignCustom draperies form an integral part of the style and feel of a space, with the ability to transform a room from cold to warm, from dull to sophisticated, from crowded to sleek.

We can help you choose the style and fabric that will best suit your windows and the mood you are trying to create. For example, soft side panels in a velvet or linen to create an elegant effect in a living room, or a simple roman shade for a more relaxed atmosphere in a family room or den, or luxuriously detailed, textured treatments and swathes for larger spaces.

Drapery can also be used to help insulate or soundproof a room, or to blackout the morning sun, and to create privacy and intimacy.

The new curtains are spectacular! Really notches it up and finishes the bedroom. You’ve got exquisite taste. The way you hung the rods is also very cool. We love them Paula!

Blinds & Shutters

Blinds are a practical solution in many windows: to block a poor view, close out the blazing sun, or insulate against a cold north wind.

But just because blinds are practical doesn’t mean they can’t be attractive too!

We work with Hunter Douglas, the industry-leading supplier known for their versatile, sophisticated and practical window coverings and treatments. They offer many different blind options – including hardwood blinds, honeycomb shades, fabric shades, roller blinds and silhouettes – all of which add style to any space, as well as custom wood shutter systems from top Canadian manufacturers.

Motorization options are available for most styles. You can view motorization options on the Hunter Douglas website.

Recently Outlooks Design has become the local go to showroom for the Hartmann & Forbes line of innovative, beautiful, hand woven textiles from organic materials (like waterlily stalks for example) which are manufactured into Roman or Roller Shades offered with Newton or Somfy Automation.

I’m so grateful to have had the conservatory blinds in place the past week during this heat wave. It’s made a huge difference in that room. Thank you so much for your great work in getting these made and installed.

Roman Shades

Roman Shades by Hunter Douglas, a line carried by Outlooks Design.A simple roman shade treatment with a mix of prints and colours creates a relaxed look when used in a den or family room. Using a silk fabric elevates the treatment to a more elegant finish for living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms and more.

In addition to Hunter Douglas, we often use the textured, natural fabrics of Hartmann & Forbes for those clients looking to create a West Coast nature-inspired space. Roman shades are the perfect way to add subtle elegance to any home, whether your style is traditional or modern.

Wow! What a difference. I love the blinds. They have provided so much more of a change than I thought they would. And the wall colour is beautiful. It looks lovely with the hardwood floors, and I can’t believe how much brighter this room feels. Thank you so much for your help. I can’t wait to see the new panels and roman shades incorporated.

Window Treatment Hardware

Outlooks Design carries a range of hardware for window treatments.Drapery hardware has come a long way over the past few years. It is now both extremely functional – no more fighting with a sticky cord – and highly decorative. A European-style drapery hardware track system embedded in a ceiling makes for a contemporary look, while a wrought iron rod with a fancy finial adds old-world charm. Finishes range from modern polished nickel, to hand-rubbed bronze and everything in between. You can even have your track system custom-painted to match your wall or fabric colour; the perfect complement to your custom window coverings and window treatments.

Motorization options are available for a variety of decorative rods. These are on display at our showroom in Sidney.

A simple treatment which showcases prints or solids equally and creates a relaxed look when used in a Den or Family Room. Using a silk fabric amps up the treatment to a more elegant finish.

We used the blinds when the sun was low on the horizon and they looked really nice and met our expectations 100%. Thanks for everything.
